An educational blog
I'd like to talk briefly about blogs and blogging as a tutoring and mentoring tool in education, namely, in learning English as a foreign language (EFL).

I decided to take up blogging with my beginner EFLers to give them:

  • a 24/7 communication system with me outside of class;
  • extra writing practice in the language learned in class;
  • extra practice in reading comprehension.

As I reflected further, I also felt that there were other advantages for the students:

  • generate or rouse the love for reading and writing;
  • give students a voice of their own;
  • give visibility to their work;
  • give them a broader public from the real world.

A blog "was" the answer to that two-way dialogue that I wanted to generate: A dialog carried on in a simple and user-friendly way.
